Nine Deep Sudoku: Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Nine Deep Sudoku app for iPhone ("the app") handles, and why. In short: I don't collect personal information. Your game stays on your device. The only third-party data collection comes from Google's ad service, and only when you choose to watch an ad for an extra hint.
1. Information stored on your device
The app saves your game on your device using local storage: puzzles in progress, solved puzzles, best times, trophies, settings (music, sound, display styles) and whether you've unlocked the full game. This information is not sent to me or anyone else. It is deleted when you delete the app.
The app has no accounts, no sign-in, and no servers of mine. Puzzles work offline.
2. Purchases (Apple In-App Purchase)
The optional "Full Game" unlock is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. I never see your name, payment card or Apple Account details. The app only asks Apple whether the purchase is active on your Apple Account, so it can unlock content and restore your purchase. Apple's privacy policy applies to purchases: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Players using the free version can choose to watch a short video ad to earn an extra hint. Ads never appear unless you tap to watch one, and there are no ads after you buy the full game.
These ads are provided by Google AdMob (Google LLC). When an ad is requested or shown, Google's software in the app may collect:
- your device's IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location
- a device identifier, such as Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking, or an app-specific identifier
- advertising data, such as which ads were shown and whether you interacted with them
- product interaction and performance data, such as app launches, taps, video views, launch time and hang rate
- crash and diagnostic information
Google uses this information to deliver, measure and improve ads, prevent fraud, and for analytics, as described in Google's policies:
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
I don't receive this information in a form that identifies you. I only see aggregated reports, such as how many ads were shown.
4. App Tracking Transparency (your choice)
Right before the first ad loads, iOS asks whether you allow the app to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites.
- Allow: Google may use your advertising identifier to show ads that are more relevant to you.
- Ask App Not to Track: the advertising identifier isn't shared, and the app requests non-personalized ads only.
The game works the same either way. You can change your choice anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google may also show a consent form before ads are personalized. You can change that choice too.
5. Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and I don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are limited to a general-audience content rating. If you believe a child has given personal information through the app, contact me and I'll help get it removed.
6. Your rights and choices
- Your game data: it's only on your device. Deleting the app removes it.
- Tracking: control it in iOS Settings, as described above. You can also reset your advertising identifier in iOS Settings.
- Ads: you never have to watch an ad. The full-game unlock removes the ad option completely.
- Access, deletion and other rights: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, delete or object to the processing of personal information. Because I don't hold personal information about you, requests about ad data are best directed to Google (see section 3). You're also welcome to contact me, and I'll help where I can.
- I don't sell your personal information. Ad-related data handling by Google is described in section 3.
7. Data security and retention
I keep no personal information on my systems. Information on your device stays there until you delete the app. Google keeps ad data according to its own retention policies.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, for example because new features are added, I'll update this page and change the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
